Mount Dora's K9 Mayor Announced

The votes have been counted, and we are proud to announce our 2018's Canine Mayor! Baylor won with 170 votes and raised $1,070 dollars. Winter was named our Canine Vice-Mayor and brought in 71 votes, raising $710.00.

Baylor, our Canine Mayor will serve for one year starting on January 1, 2018 and will receive:

  • An official collar
  • A reserved parking spot at the City Dog Park
  • and will participate and represent the city in parades and other events
  • Bragging Rights as the "Honorary Canine Mayor of Mount Dora."

Each year the Mount Dora Heroes Foundation holds this fundraiser as a way to help and support retired police K9's.

We had a very successful year and lots of fun. We can't thank all of our "Caninedates" (and their parents) who did their part in helping us raise funds for this worthy cause. Buddy, Chico, Droopy, Phoenix, Baby Girl, Braxton, Nova, Bella and Cali without you, our event would not have been so amazing. This year, due to all of the fabulous support we received, we raised $3,010. These funds will go toward assisting with the placement and support of retired police dogs; as well as growing and the Mount Dora Police Departments K-9 unit.

We are so thankful for the community support we received and look forward to what 2019 will bring!
